Privacy Policy

Before you sign up, your onboarding choices stay on your device. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive an account identifier, your email address, and any name or profile image the provider shares.

We also process your language and timezone, topic choices, reactions, reading history and saved or seen status, engagement with articles, derived taste profile, recommendations and service events, authentication and session data, push token, and basic device, app, and network information such as app version, locale, and IP address. If the app crashes or does not work correctly, we also collect diagnostic data such as error reports, stack traces, and the steps leading up to the problem. These reports are stripped of personal details on your device before they are sent.

You need to sign in and complete onboarding to use dailypedia. Reactions, saved articles, and notifications are optional.

We use this data to create and manage your account, choose and deliver your daily article, remember your preferences and history, send notifications, keep the service secure and reliable, improve it, and respond to privacy requests. We rely on our contract with you to provide and personalize the service, our legitimate interests to secure and improve it, and legal obligations when handling privacy requests.

We use hosting and infrastructure providers to operate dailypedia and securely store account data. Apple and Google support sign-in. We use Expo Push Service, along with Apple and Google’s notification services, to deliver notifications. We use Sentry to collect crash and diagnostic reports so we can find and fix problems.

Cloudflare hosts and secures this website and provides Web Analytics without using cookies or visitors’ personal data for analytics. When you open an article, Wikimedia, which operates Wikipedia, receives the page address and basic connection information.

Some providers may process data in other countries under applicable transfer safeguards. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

We keep your account, reading, recommendation, and taste data while your account is active. Authentication, session, and verification records expire or are deleted when they are no longer needed to operate and secure the service.

We retain our encrypted backups and security logs for up to 90 days, after which they are deleted or overwritten. We may keep a record of a privacy request for as long as needed to show that we handled it.

When we complete your request, we delete your account and the personal data associated with it from our active systems. We may retain non-identifying aggregate statistics, such as the total number of accounts or recommendations. Backups and security logs expire under our retention schedule.

You may ask to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, or to restrict or object to how it is processed. You may withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. dailypedia uses automated recommendations, but they do not make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
